Abstract

As we know, the Reproductive system is the system of the body that is responsible for reproduction. It is also known as the genital system. It consists of several external and internal organs. Any kind of disorder that retards the proper functioning of the reproductive system is known as reproductive system disorder. Testicular microlithiasis is an uncommon disorder of the male reproductive system. Introduction

Testes are the pair of two oval-shaped organs that are covered by a skin called the scrotum. Testes are responsible for the storage and production of sperm. It is the main part of the male reproductive system. Testicular microlithiasis is the collection of a small clump of calcium in the testicles. It is an uncommon and non-progressive condition. These are uniform, tiny, numerous calcium clusters in one or both testes. This disease is usually found during the scanning (USG) of testes.  It is an asymptomatic, impalpable, and painless disease.

Symptoms

In most of the cases, Testicular microlithiasis is asymptomatic but in few causes, pain and inflammation in testes are also reported. It may be related to the cases of testicular tumors and male infertility.

Causes

In modern medicine, there is no specific cause, and treatment is known. But in Ayurveda, this testicular microlithiasis is associated with Shukrashmarij sharkara. According to Acharyas, urinary calculus (Ashmari) is formed in the testes (Vrishna) and penis (Medhra). According to Ayurveda, the suppression of the impulse of semen is the basic cause of testicular microlithiasis.

Ayurvedic Concept

It means that after getting heat from pitta and drying by Vayu, and not attaining proper hardness from Kapha, the stone (Ashmari) cracks up into small gravel-like particles, these tiny fragments are called microliths (Sharkara).

Risk Factors of Testicular Microlithiasis

Risk factors of testicular microlithiasis are directly related to testicular cancer. These factors are:

  • Infertility and Subfertility
  • History of Cryptorchidism or testicular maldescent.
  • Ethnicity
  • Presence of atrophic testis at a younger age.
  • HIV or AIDS
  • Genetic disorders (Family history)
  • Muscle- building supplements
  • Testicular dysgenesis syndrome
  • Adaptation of unhealthy diet and lifestyle
  • Overconsumption of Kapha vardhak Ahara (Kapha increasing food items)

1. Varunadi Vati

It is formulated by the combination of four herbs i.e. Varun (Crataeva nurvala), Gokshur (Tribulus terrestris) and Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa), Guggulu (Commiphora mukul). Due to its blood purifying and diuretic action, this vati decreases the chances of stone formation in testicles and increases the passage out of micro stones via urine. This vati is also beneficial in the reduction of pain in testicular microlithiasis.

Dosage: Two tablets twice daily with lukewarm water after meals

2. Boswellia Curcumin

Name specifies that these capsules are made up of two ingredients Boswellia serrata (Shallaki) and Curcuma longa (Curcumin or haridra). Due to their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, these capsules are beneficial in any infectious, inflammatory, and painful conditions. This formulation helps to lose impurities that become embedded in tissue and liquefy them for better absorption and elimination. Dosage: One capsule twice a day, with plain water after meals.

3. Kanchnaar Guggul
