Abstract

As per Harvard medical school, there are no researches explaining the direct connection between lifestyle and immunity. Acquired immunity

It is also known as specific immunity. It is the resistance developed in the body against any specific foreign body like bacteria,virus ,toxins, vaccines or transplanted tissues . It is most powerful immune mechanism that protects the body from the invading organism or toxic substances.

What  Does Ayurveda say about Immunity?

Immunity can be correlated to Ojas in Ayurveda. Ojas is the collective extract obtained when there is a completion in dhatu’s nutrition. Ojas has an innate property called vyadhikshamatwa (resistance to disease) responsible for one’s physical, mental and spiritual stability. The aura, the strength, the gleam we have, is produced from Ojas and it act as a shield in protecting us from diseases.  As Ojas prospers so does the body’s immunity, presence of mind and good memory flourish.  On the other hand, if one’s body has inadequate rasa, the tissues become dry and impure, eventually leading to exhaustion of Ojas. Declining Ojas also stimulate an increase in the ama, produced by the body thus hindering one’s physical and mental aptitude.

  • Normal dosha
  • Symmetry state of dhatu
  • Standard agni
  • Flawlessness of srotas
