  1. Mild portal hypertensive gastropathy– in this type of portal hypertensive gastropathy there is the appearance of a snakeskin pattern or mosaic appearance. This is one sign of mild portal hypertensive gastropathy.
  2. Severe portal hypertensive gastropathy– it is associated with bulging, flat red, black brown spots. Active bleeding can be present.


The most important clinical feature associated with pHG is bleeding. There are associated symptoms also. Explained below–

Factors Influencing The Development of Portal Hypertensive gastropathy

Factors influencing the development hypertensive frequency of PHG is associated with severity of portal hypertension as indicated by hepatic venous pressure gradient, intra-variceal pressure. Portal hypertension is associated with severe PHG. It is evident that portal hyper gastropathy is associated with portal hypertension. PHG is found predominantly in patients with liver cirrhosis than in non-cirrohtic liver patients.
