Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition with unknown etiology and hinders the daily life of the patient. It usually occurs due to abnormal pain regulation mechanisms. It is considered to be a neuro sensory disorder. It is characterized by a syndrome of central sensitization as the body loses the capacity to appropriately process the pain impulses.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness of idiopathic illness. Idiopathic means whose cause is not known. Instead, many risk factors are estimated to be- Rheumatoid arthritis, stressful or traumatic events in life, etc. Family history and obesity also makes the person prone to this sickness. Women are two times more prone to fibromyalgia. The women are more prone to fibromyalgia because of higher levels of anxiety, higher levels of depression, etc. The altered response to pain also makes women more prone to fibromyalgia. The symptoms of fibromyalgia will vary from patient to patient. The most common presenting features will be pain and stiffness all over the body. The patient will experience fatigue and feels tired all the time. The sleep is disturbed due to constant pain and the person experiences problems with remembering things.
