Meaning of chandraprabha is :- chandra=moon and prabha=glow. It acts as a tonic, aphrodisiac and rejuvenator. By the regular use of chandraprabha vati enhances the face glow and maintains the overall health system. Like the moon it will bring calmness and remove all the darkness on your face. It maintains the kapha dosha along with vata dosha. There are various illnesses in which chandraprabha vati is widely used. It is useful for both male and females. It is a classical ayurvedic tablet which is firstly discussed in the ancient ayurvedic textbook of Sarngadhara samhita madhyama khanda 7/40-49.

Therapeutic uses of the ingredients

  • Karpura – Cinnamomum camphora:- It is an antioxidant which decreases swelling, pain and alleviates cough and cold features. It is also very useful for skin health.
  • Vacha – Acorus calamus:- It is a most renowned herb used for mental disorders and diseases of the nervous system. It is also known to possess carminative, digestive, diuretic and mildly sedative properties. It is also used in cough, sinus and cold features.
  • Musta – Cyperus rotundus:- It contains anti- microbial properties used for managing many fungal and bacterial infections. It helps in digestion and lowers blood sugar.
  • Bhunimba – Andrographis paniculata:- It purifies the blood and hence treats various skin diseases. It is very useful in jaundice, malaria and liver diseases.
  • Amruta – Tinospora cordifolia:- It is a widely used herb. It has been described as antipyretic and anti-arthritic. It is very useful in fever, rheumatism, gout, dyspepsia and urinary diseases. It is also an immuno-modulator, an antioxidant, a rejuvenator and a restorative tonic.

  • Pippali Mool – Piper longum:- It expels out the excess kapha from the body. It is useful in sinusitis, asthma and thick sputum.
  • Chitraka – Plumbago zeylanica:- It is very effective in boosting metabolism. It helps in digestion, weight loss and relieves joint pain.
  • Dhanyaka – Coriandrum sativum:- It promotes digestion, heart functions, regulates blood cholesterol level etc.

  • Shunthi – Zingiber officinalis:- It is a very powerful herb which is carminative, digestive, sialagogue, blood purifier and anti-colic.

  • Pippali – Piper longum:- It is widely used in indigestion, diarrhea, asthma, heartburn etc.
  • Makshika dhatu bhasma – Purified copper iron sulfate:- It is a herbal ash made from copper and iron which is useful in jaundice, insomnia, nausea, anemia, bleeding piles, vomiting etc.

  • Vamshalochana – Bambusa bambos:- It is widely used in bone, teeth, hair problem, skin problem and oral care.
  • Loha bhasma – Iron bhasma :- It is widely used for anaemia, weakness, insomnia, bleeding piles etc.
  • Sita – Sugar:- It maintains the blood sugar level in hypoglycemia, fainting, dehydration and is useful in vomiting, fever, hiccups, ulcer and skin disorder.
  • Shilajatu – Asphaltum:- It is very thick and sticky in nature obtained from the rocks layer. It contains excess minerals and is useful in kidney stones, dysuria, anaemia etc.
  • Guggulu – Commiphora mukul:- It is the extract of bark from mukul tree  which is effective in hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular problems etc.

The dosage of chandraprabha vati is 1-2 tablets (500mg) twice a day with milk or water.


Chandraprabha vati can be consumed along with water, honey, milk and herbal decoction and guduchi.
